Hi,
Sorry for the delay in replying.
Your efforts to work on this issue is very much appreciated.
If you have not yet tried this then you may follow this:
If Bluetooth is turned on, and the driver is up to date, but your device still doesn’t work, try removing the device and re-pairing it. Here's how: Go to start, enter Devices, select Bluetooth, select the device, select Remove device, and then try pairing again.
Make sure that the Bluetooth-enabled audio device is on and discoverable. How you do this varies with devices, so check the info that came with your device or go to the manufacturer’s website.
Keep us informed to help you further.

I have a Dell XPS 2720 running Windows 10 latest version, all drivers updated.
My Sony MDR-ZX770BN will pair with my PC but it won't connect. When I click the headset in the Connect buttion, it tells me 'Couldn't connect'. And it does not appear in the list of sound devices.
The headset works ok with my iPhone and iPad.
Been through the unpairing, pairing, unpairing, pairing, a couple of dozen times.
Tried all of the suggestions I could find online.

Done plenty of web searches. Found heaps of complaints about Bluetooth audio not working with Win 10.
That document, like everything else I've found on MS websites, is of no help at all. I've carried out every one of their suggestions a couple of dozen times.
If you have some actual help to offer, please do.

You said: 'Seems Windows 10 does not support A2DP?' The page I linked to confirmed that Windows 10 does support A2DP. If providing the correct answer to a question doesn't qualify as 'actual help,' what does?

I have the same problem (different hardware, but same scenario), and it turns out that both you and (the less-than-helpful) Jim are both right.
Microsoft's Bluetooth stack presently supports only the 'source' role of the A2DP profile, which lets it send audio. It does not support the 'sink' role of the A2DP profile, which would let it receive audio.
There is a Toshiba driver that installs this service on their laptops to make up for this regression (the Bluetooth stack Toshiba shipped with Windows 7 had this feature), but its INF file is set up to only install on Toshiba computers.
The rest of us are stuck until Microsoft learns that some of us plug our computers into nice speaker systems and might want to stream audio digitally instead of dealing with cables and the associated logistical hassle. Or, we might want to use the same headset for Skype and telephone calls.

On my previous laptop with Windows 8 I loved playing the music from my phone using bluetooth and when I bought a new laptop with windows 10 I was very disappointed because no matter what I did I couldn't play songs anymore.
First I thought that was an issue with my old phones drivers on windows 10 but that wasn't making any sense. In fact my old phone was having cable connection issues but there was no problem with bluetooth connection.
Microsoft should really be more careful about what features they remove from their newer products.
I don't want to use bluesoleil or any kind of third party crap software or driver to use this feature.
I just want my music playing ability back!
